Prenatal/Birth/Newborn Photographer

I am in awe of the talent of Emily Weaver Brown. She's simply the best prenatal/birth/newborn photographer out there. Emily combines a natural flair for composition with a sense of how special the childbearing year is. Oh and, of course, a grasp of the practical issues of working with unpredictable newborns!

Client Run Businesses

One of the things I love about teaching childbirth classes is that I get to meet people who run all kinds of interesting businesses. I'm devoting this part of the Birth Zone website to putting the word out about them. If you are a Birth Zone client and would like your business included here, just let me know!

My Green Baby - Playcare for a Greener Generation

I was delighted to see Julie at one of the Open Houses. Her son was almost walking--quite the inspiration to the moms bringing their newborns to that gathering!

Julie told me all about her new childcare service, which is one of the few eco-friendly options out there. Call her at (425) 495-9406 for more information or visit her website at:

Swaggle--an easy way to get Birth Announcements out

A client created a service that lots of new parents have been using for their birth announcements. It's called Swaggle, and it's a group text-messaging service. It allows you to send a single text message (e.g., "Robert Jones, 6 lbs 5 oz was born at 6:10 am, beautiful and happy") and the service will automatically send it on to however many people you want to add to the group. It's pretty simple to set up and can all be done from the web site:

http://swaggle.mobi/

It could be used for all kinds of parenting situations too: ("Anyone free to babysit for a half an hour right now? I can drop off!")

Pesos  Kitchen & Lounge

I'm typing this in something of a food haze having eaten one of the most delicious breakfasts ever! Their stuffed french toast is wickedly wonderful. The rest of my family had egg breakfasts and highly recommend the spicy sausages.

I read a review that described Pesos as having a "youthfully throbbing bar scene" but that only applies to the night-life. It feels like a great family place the rest of the time!

Pesos is at the intersection of Queen Anne Ave and Mercer, near Key Arena in Seattle. Matt Walker is the manager and a class alum.  Call Pesos at (206) 283-9353

Tolt Tree Care

We recently had a very tall, dying cedar tree felled by a client. The great job he did inspired me to put the word out about client businesses. If you have need of any of the following tree services, I highly recommend you call Tolt Tree Care:

1. Removal
2. Stump Grinding
3. View enhancement
4. Tree trimming
5. Pruning
6. Logging
7. Chipping
8. Clean-up
9. Emergencies

Call Jeff at 425-256-0536 or email him at ToltTreeCare@gmail.com.
